True, it is a software because it is something you download onto the computer, it is not a piece of hardware because it is not physical.

2. Operating Systems control the loading of software applications onto a computer.

True, the Operating System is in charge of what files can be used where and which files can be opened such as .exe for Windows and .app for Mac.

3. All Operating Systems offer user preferences, allowing you to customize your computer.

True, all Operating Systems will give you some kind of user preference to change printers and the way things are stored and organized. 

4. An Operating System prioritizes the tasks that a CPU does.

True, the Operating System is in charge of handling files and memory which includes RAM so the OS has to decide and cipher through the tasks at hand and decide which one should be running at that moment.

A Dell Laptop

Nintendo Wii

True, An Apple iPod runs on Apples mobile OS which is named iOS. A Dell Laptop uses Windows OS which is what gives it the capability to run like any other windows. A Nintendo Wii runs its own OS in order to load games, stream video and download content from the internet.

Communicating on the Internet

Emails are helpful for getting messages or information across from person to person. Email uses a Client which can be Hardware or software based. The program, communicates to the servers and is able to send the data across. You either send plain text using an email or send a file through the servers.

The SMTP is also known as Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, this will regulate outgoing emails. It finds the domain address its trying to be sent to and makes sure the IP address and other address information matches, then it will paste the email onto the servers.POP3 downloads the emails onto your computer to be read while IMAP can be used from any device.

IMing is a type of client that lets you instantly message someone over a server. The server will find the other person's IP and send the message to them. After this, the server is no longer needed because it already has all of the information it needs to keep the messages. There are also many online services to IM and email people making this process easier.

How the Internet Works

1. What is the internet?
The internet is a network where people can interact from anywhere around the world. This makes it easy to connect with relatives and friends who live far away, you can even research using websites to help you write essays. The internet connects millions of smaller networks together to process information.

2. What is a protocol?
They enable connection communication and data between two computing endpoints. Its a way to be able to connect two computer, they have to have the same protocol set up to send information to each other. they are rules that control and enable the connection of data to be transferred.

3. What is DNS?
DNS basically enables internet connection, its known as a Domain Name Service. It translates and resolves addresses, without it we wouldn't have internet. The DNS server resolves the name for the IP address and finds the right computer. All the DNS servers are hooked up together and it has to decide which ones to use and go through.

Learning about Peripherals

Peripherals are devices or add-ons that we add to a computer to enhance or improve your experience.

There are many different types of peripherals that we use everyday some of them are...

The Mouse- Makes it so you can move your digital cursor around on the screen.

There are 2 different kinds of mice.

• USB Wireless Optical mouse
• Trackball Mouse

Keyboard- Reports each key press to a software program that interprets the keystrokes, you can also use keyboard for giving commands such as the CRTL-ALT-DELETE key that is used on the Windows OS.

Monitor- They are the output devices that shows you the digital world, which really means, it shows you all the data that the computer is outputting and makes it so you can see what you're doing. There are also different types of resolution, the more pixels the resolution has, the higher quality it will be.

• CRT Monitor

Printers- are output devices which you can send data to and it will print it on paper, while scanners are input devices where you can transfer a document into an online photo.

There are 3 types

Zapatopi

This website looks a little fishy just from the way the website is set up at first glance and it was one of my first clues that this is not a trustworthy site. If you scroll to the top left you will see that this is a blog, so it is not really a good idea to trust a blog in the first place because almost anyone could write a blog. Also the whole idea just seems dumb, the hat literally has no purpose and just sits there. It states "since you can't trust anyone..," that makes this person sound either crazy or clueless of whatever he or she is talking about in this blog. The site seems to also contain quite a few grammatical errors inside of it which makes me believe it is less trustworthy

ID Faceoff Activity

This is wrong because thefts don't just use drivers and name badges, if they gain access to one piece of your information that gives them access to a large portion of your identity making it harder to get your identity back.
